Composed using titles from the seminal Japanese pink film (pinku eiga) porn genre, Pinkaiku takes advantage of the poetry found in translation to create a series of tender and often humorous free haiku exploring the universal politics of love, loss and desire. By employing a tradition of Japanese poetry which avoided themes of sex and violence, while alluding to pink film’s triple-bill form, Pinkaiku plays with an exploitative genre’s imagist potential in order to return meaning to those naming structures intended to reduce content to the ‘money shot’.
